Yes! The University of North Texas is the first major University in the United States to offer a strictly vegan cafeteria. I remember when I was in college in the 80s and 90s there was no such thing, and I went to school in a much more progressive area. So what is going on in Texas?
The administration claims the decision is not about sustainability or animal welfare, but rather to address the wants of the student body in terms of their tastes which are growing increasingly diverse. OK, well that is an interesting way of putting it. Regardless of the reason, Vegan Ranger thinks this is awesome! We know that many schools now offer some vegan options, but an entire cafeteria dedicated to vegan food is great because students will know that their food wasn’t cooked on the same equipment used for cooking animal products.
